IZNÁJAR

Iznájar sits on the ridge of a hill above the Priego stream and the Genil river, which here flows through its middle channel forming the Iznájar reservoir, the largest in Andalusia. History tells that the town was called by the Arabs Hins Ashar (stone castle), which may give us a clue to its foundation around the 8th century. Its Castle and its narrow and steep streets and endless beautiful corners are preserved from that time.

Iznájar has one of the largest reservoirs in Spain. This, in addition to the magnificent views it offers from different viewpoints, is an ideal space for bathers and water sports practitioners, especially recommended for lovers of paddle surfing and rowing sports. And, if you prefer the mainland, choose one of the hiking trails in the area and enjoy nature in a unique environment.
